The Giveback Gift Guide - Maison de Choup
It's that time of year again! Oh, the joy! Full of wonder, sparkly lights that smell of pine! We LOVE it! As with everyone, we're on the hunt for the perfect gifts this Christmas (of course, our clothing is at the top of our list!) but for other people, we thought we'd create something of value.
Welcome to the Maison de Choup Giveback Gift Guide. Each and every gift on this list gives back something or to somewhere whilst also being a fantastic gift to give someone this festive season. Got your pen and paper? Good, let's get to work on your guilt-free gifts.
1. Marie Curie Stonewear Robin Mug
Tea drinkers unite! Starting off with an absolute necessity in each and every household is this very cute Stonewear Robin Mug from Marie Curie. Perfect for that first cup of tea (or coffee) on Christmas morning. Or any of day of the year, to be honest.
2. Bottletop Luisa Mini Clutch Bag
With the current scary plastic situation, it's fantastic to see that brands are utilising the use of bottle tops to create something you can use time and time again. Bottletop uses upcycled ring pulls and metal tabs to create their bags. Each bag is made in Brazil by local women who gain skills, full-time employment. Proceeds also go towards funding smaller projects around the world. If you've got the budget, it's a lovely addition to the bag collection!
3. JEMIMASARA Martini Earrings
JEMIMASARA so named after the brand's creator, Jemima Sara Hand. The brand itself promotes self-love, empowerment and confidence. With that in mind, any Martini drinkers will perhaps consider wearing these to the next event for an eclectic twist. Not only that, 10% of the profits from JEMIMASARA go to the Young Women Trust.
4. Sana Jardin Revolution De La Fleur Parfum
The worlds first socially conscious luxury fragrance brand is certainly something to shout about, and we love it. Presenting Revolution De La Fleur, a feminine muse, this scent is a harmonious blend of Madagascan ylang-ylang, Moroccan jasmine, frangipani and rose. The result? A tropical floral mēlange. The scents are fantastic, but not only that, they empower the women involved in their creation by upcycling their own floral waste to create beautiful scents that I then sold all over the world.
5. Within the White Lines - Ruth Fox
A very honest account of suffering from severe depression. Ruth Fox is a 19-year-old mental health campaigner, who decided to write a book about her struggles with depression. A story that is an emotional rollercoaster is ultimately an inspirational novel, Ruth is now fighting for mental health to be discussed widely on the football pitch, where she herself found the game saved her life. A delicate gift for someone who might be suffering. Published by Trigger a publishing house that is dedicated to mental health and giving people a voice. Proceeds from book sales from Trigger go back into The Shaw Mind Foundation, it's parent charity.
6. The Rabble Treat Tin
Dogs are a weakness for us, anything dog related will without a doubt make the list (not bias at all) and this one has hit the spot. Adorable and useful, if you've got a dog you need somewhere to store all those treats for your pupper, right? Of course. Why not choose The Rabble treat tin from The Dogs Trust. As well having a very stylish treat tin, you'll also be helping to save the lives of thousands of abandoned and stray dogs.
£14.99 The Dogs Trust
7. Change Please Coffee
Heres the coffee to go with that wonderful Robin mug from Marie Curie. Change Please coffee blends don't just taste great, they also do great. The company invests all their profits back into getting people out of homelessness, and that's not it, they train homeless people to become baristas enabling them to work.
8. Oh Whale Butter Dish
We're having a whale of a time writing this gift guide!! And it wouldn't be the same without the 'Oh Whale Butter Dish' by RNLI. The charming little butter dish looks like a little whale swimming across your table, how can you resist? Profits from the RNLI shop go to the charity, which is always a bonus.
9. Soap Co Luxury Skincare
We are sure a lot of people like having nice soaps in their bathrooms and, seriously, who doesn't like smelling good? Here then, is a luxury skincare brand that not only smells amazing, but it also does amazing things too. All profits from the brand are reinvested employing, training and supporting people with disabilities to build skills, confidence and independence. One bottle of hand wash sold creates one hour of employment, whilst a bath or body oil creating two hours. They currently employ 114 over the country.
10. The 'Warrior not Worrier' T-Shirt
As always, you must save the best until last... we're not at all bias, but you've probably guessed that this is actually one of our own products, oops! Nevertheless, it wouldn't be a Maison de Choup Giveback Gift Guide without a Maison de Choup product.
Without a doubt one of the most popular and favourite designs from the collection, The Warrior not Worrier t-shirt is bold and striking, expressing that we are stronger than our mental health. From this t-shirt, 25% of proceeds go to YoungMinds Charity, helping young mental health sufferers get the help they need. Similar to the Words Fail Me Tee which also donates 25% of proceeds to YoungMinds.
