I work part-time at Sainsbury's and there is no shame in that
When you're young (or even a little older) you hear phrases thrown around like 'When are you going to get a proper job?' So toxic to young people that it will even cause panic in the strongest people.
In today's economic climate getting a job you love or thought you'd get with the degree you've successfully just earned yourself isn't as easy as just walking through a companies door. Getting a part-time job for financial security is very important as a stepping stone to the future.
To that end then...
I’m not sure how many of you know, probably a few, that I also work in Sainsburys 5 mornings a week starting at 4-8am alongside running Maison de Choup and doing my speeches.
I just wanted to say a little something about it, there is no shame in having a job in a supermarket or retail, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a way of earning an income and if you are currently working on a project yourself, just remember that it will help with financial security while you progress.
For me personally, Sainsbury's supports my cash flow. The position is not complicated and therefore does not drain my mental energy and has helped me survive whilst I grow Maison de Choup. I am very thankful that the working hours allow me to listen to music meaning I can then focus and get on, using this time to think about ideas for the brand, eventually finishing at 8 am. This results in me having the rest of the day to work on Maison de Choup, it's brilliant and suits me perfectly. I am incredibly grateful to Sainsbury's for supporting me personally, as well as understanding my Anxiety. The business can fund itself but I at the moment can’t take anything out of it, time and patience are important. Remember, everyone has humble beginnings and no one is an overnight success.
